Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong yesterday said the All Progressives Congress, APC administration in the state was on a rescue mission and would proffer solutions to the myriad of problems in the state.
Lalong stated this while swearing in the Secretary to the State Government , Rufus Bature , his Chief of Staff, John Dafan, Deputy Chief of Staff, Silas Vem , Director General Research , Planning and Documentation, John Wade, the Chairman of Langtang North, Dan Dul , Director of Press and Public Affairs, Nanle Emmauel , among other aides at the main conference hall, Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
According to him, “This ceremony is a milestone in the process of setting up a responsive administration that is committed to making a difference in Plateau State and in the lives of our people based on the change our people sought for and got through the polls.
“The appointees have been carefully chosen in line with our change philosophy of ensuring credible and inclusive government which will guarantee value addition.
“I wish to congratulate the newly sworn-in Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and the Chief of Staff (COS) and welcome you on board the ship of this new administration, with a charge that the recognition of your individual personal qualities and track record of service in the past should be brought to bear in delivering the highest good of governance to the people of Plateau.
“You must therefore see your appointments as a call and challenge to service. Indeed, we have a big task ahead of us in ensuring that we put smiles on the faces of our people and the responsibility of this public trust must be carried out with diligence and vigilance to ensure that it is not abused,” he added.
Also, Lalong swore in the elected Chairman of Langtang North local government council, Dan Dul, saying it was in line with his government’s philosophy of respect and obedience to the rule of law.
It would be recalled that Plateau State local government election appeal tribunal voided the election of Hon. Godwin Nanmwa Kumzhi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Langtang North council election held on the 25th of February, 2014.
Justice JD Mann of the local government election appeal tribunal, while delivering the judgement, dismissed the preliminary objection raised as to whether the first respondent, Godwin Nanmwa Kumzhi of PDP was validly declared winner by Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC.
