Special Adviser to Cross River State Government on International Donor Cooperation, Mr. Roy Ndoma-Egba has assured that the issues of counterpart funding to the United Nation’s Children Fund, UNICEF, programmes will soon be addressed.
Ndoma-Egba who gave the assurance at a two day 2009-2012/2013 Bridging Programme Review Preparatory Meeting in Calabar, explained that the State had taken a holistic approach in handling the issue.
According to him, all activities earmarked in the work plan by the MDAs would be handled appropriately while adjustment would only be on the time of implementation adding that some activities which had been implemented were time bound.
Commenting on the objectives of the meeting, the Programme Manager DIDC, Mr. Mike Mgbeki informed that the meeting was to provide an opportunity to examine the performance of the partners so far, so as to enable them chart a proper course.
He stated that the two year multi programme which started last year, will be rounded-up in November, this year and would climax as the final and concluding part of the programme.
High point of the meeting was the presentation on status of implementation by Desk Officers in Basic Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Programme, Emergency, Co-ordination/Response, Health, Child Protection and Social Statistics among others.
