Chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC, Sir Mike Okiro, has advocated for more effective co-operation amongst the various security agencies in the country.

nigerian policeOkiro made the appeal when the National Committee for the Development of National Policy on Public Safety paid him a courtesy call in his office.

He said the inter-agency co-operation would help stem the tide of security challenges plaguing the country.

The chairman charged the security outfits to form a common synergy and share intelligence information in the fight against terrorism.

Okiro stressed that it was only by synergising they can be ahead of these terrorists and other criminals

The delegation led by Professor Femi Odekunle, a renowned scholar of Criminology, said the visit was to solicit for the Commission’s support and its input on how it can come up with a robust national policy on public safety.

Prof. Odekunle lamented that part of the public security challenges had been brought about by inter-agency rivalry and squabbles.

He was of the opinion that all security and protection agencies in the country are all geared towards public safety, adding that a coherent public safety policy would enhance national growth.
