The Football Association of
Malawi (FAM) has released a list
of 23-players and seven officials
that will make the trip to Calabar.
The Flames will take on the Super
Eagles in a crucial World Cup
qualifier billed for September 7.
The Malawian delegation will
however make a stop at Gaborone
were they will take on Botswana
in a friendly match on September
4, before heading up to Calabar to
take on the African champions.
Several prominent names are
conspicuously missing from list
of players released by FAM with
the most obvious being the team
captain Josephy Kamwendo.
The former Orlando Pirates
midfielder has been at loggerheads
with Malawi coach Tom Saintfiet,
having criticized FAM for offering
the Belgian a $10,000 bonus while
leaving out the players.
Other players left out include
experienced strikers Esau
Kanyenda and Chiukepo
Msowoya as well as first choice
goalkeeper Simplex Nthala.
