Mother of Ricky Daniel Ohikhena, the stowaway teenager, Mrs. Evelyn Ohikhena, yesterday confirmed that her son is back to Benin City.
Mrs. Ohikhena said she got a call from an MTN line early Tuesday morning where a female voice invited her to the state Ministry of Women of Affairs along Government House road, GRA Benin City.
“I came to the office and was told that my child was being taken to the Directorate of State services, SSS, so I joined them and saw Daniel.
“But they did not allow me to touch him or greet him but he was looking okay.”
She said after the short session with SSS, where she believes Daniel was asked some questions, the official asked her to wait at the ministry.
However, security sources say that Daniel is not likely to be returned to his mother soon for security reasons.
Meanwhile there are indications that the secretary to the government have asked to see Daniel while the Ministry of Women Affairs officials were said to be holding a crucial meeting on the child’s future.
Although Mrs. Ohikhena could not confirm, sources at the ministry say Daniel may end up in a remand home in the state capital under tight security as De Rauf Volunteers work out details of their scholarship for him.
