Nigerian Army Authorities has said that it will do all it can to tackle security challenges in the country.
In a chat with newsmen, Brig. Gen. Pat Akem, the brigade commander, 4 mechanised brigade, Benin City said this at the end of a five-day refresher exercise tagged: “Crocodile Jaw” for troops in the 19 battalion Niquora Barracks, Okitipupa, Ondo State.
Represented by Col. Adeola Kalejaye, Chief of Army Staff of the Brigade, Gen. Akem, said that the army is readily equipped with logistics to combat contemporary security challenges in the country.
The commander added that the welfare of soldiers had also improved by the years in order to keep them abreast with their colleagues across the world in military tactics.
“The logistics and welfare in the army have gradually improved to combat insecurity and crimes in the country.
Officers’ educational level has also improved because we encourage them to go for further studies and training to equip them for the task ahead,” he informed.
He added that in an effort to fully combat the contemporary insecurity problems in the country, the annual refresher training is being sponsor by the Nigerian Army Headquarters.
According to the commander, some of the objectives of Cro odile Jaw exercise included: to build good battle discipline in terms of individual and unit training, to teach and practice troop on fire control orders, to practice the importance of command and control in all internal security operations and so on.
Other security operatives in the area who participated in the exercise which lasted between September 2 and September 6 included, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC; Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC and Nigeria Police.
