Ahead of the supplementary election in Anambra State, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar yesterday redeployed the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State and five Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, AIGs and two Commissioners of Police, CPs.
According to a press statement from the Force Headquarters, the redeployment was in line with the IGP’s efforts towards building a people-friendly police force, through the rendering of an effective and efficient service delivery.
CP Usman Gwary is now in charge of Anambra State Police Command. He took over from AIG Ballah Nasarawa, who was recently promoted to the rank of an Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
AIG Ballah Nasarawa is now in charge of Zone 9, Umuahia – comprising of Abia, Imo, Enugu and Anambra State Commands.
Other affected senior officers are:AIG David Omojola, Zone 11 (Osun, Ondo and Oyo); AIG Tambari Yabo Mohammed, Zone 1 (Kano, Jigawa and Katsina); AIG Edgar Nanakumo (Force Animal Branch) and AIG Mohammed Gana, Zone 12 (Bauchi, Borno and Yobe).
The other CP is CP Saidu Madawaki now in charge of Kogi State Command.
The IGP charged the affected officers to ensure that they step up the fight against crimes and criminalities and ensure that the safety and security of lives and property of the citizenry are not compromised.
