Police restate onslaught on criminals in FCT

Federal Capital Territory, FCT, police command has vowed to sustain its onslaught on criminals operating within and around the nation’s capital.
The command also commended members of the public who have continued to support the police with useful information on criminals and their nefarious activities.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu stated his command’s resolve to weed out crime in the seat of government yesterday while parading 13 suspected criminals before newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Garki-Abuja.
The police chief assured that his mission was to reduce crime to its minimum and make FCT safe for residents and visitors alike.
“This effort has continued to yield a great result leading to arrest of notorious criminals and recovery of stolen items.”
CP Inalegwu, while commending residents of the FCT for their continued support the police in the fight against crime by way of volunteering useful information, said, “This is by no means an indication that the command’s partnership with members of the public is creating a great impact as some of these successes being celebrated were the offshoot of information received from well meaning members of the public.”
The command recovered 7 arms and ammunition, 2 cars, 18 phones, 8 TV sets, 3 generators, one motorcycle, 4 DVD, 2 standing fans, and one laptop.
According to the CP, following a distress call that some hoodlums were operating at Maitama axis on May 31 this year at about 4am, police detectives/Response Teams who were promptly deployed to the scene arrested one Danjuma Shehu Umar of Dagba Area1.
“Preliminary police investigation has revealed that the arrested is a robber who specialises in house breaking. The suspect will be charged to court on conclusion of investigations.”
In another case, the CP said acting on intelligence report about a car theft syndicate, operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, discreetly swung into action on May 28 this year and in the process arrested one Celestine Ezeh who is a member of the notorious car theft syndicate. He was arrested at Gwagwa and is now helping police in its investigation.
“Operatives of the command attached to the Anti Car Theft section on patrol arrested one Amos Yaro, a notorious car thief, while trying to steal a Honda Accord from where it was parked. The arrested suspect is currently undergoing interrogation. On May26, at about 10:10pm, police operatives on patrol arrested one Sunday Monday ‘m’ armed with a machete after robbing his victim. The phone set and N10,000 cash robbed from the victim was recovered from suspect.”
