The Federal Controller of Works in Ondo state, Engr Bukola Adisa, has appealed for the collaboration of state and local government in constructing durable road network across the country.
Engr, Adisa while chatting with journalists in Akure, the state capital, lamented the deplorable state of roads in the country, saying ‘’There is the need for both state and local government to collaborate with FG in constructing road networks in the country because Nigeria’s road net works comprises Federal, State and Local Government roads.
“We have discovered that when the state government links FG roads, they are not properly designed. So, also the local government roads and we are having so many issues with this,” he said.
The Controller, who stated that Federal road in Ondo state are in fair condition noted that the issue of overloading especially by trailers poses a threat to accessibility of road network in the country.
He condemned speed breakers on highways which according to him is not allow on Federal roads, adding that it is not the solution to road safety rather it has added to the number of accident on the roads.
He assured the people of the state of Federal Government’s intervention on all federal roads pointing out that the state has been having very fair share of the Federal Government’s patronage.
