Nyame faces huddles

An attempt to return to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, by former governor of Taraba State, Rev. Jolly Nyame, has met a brick wall.
Nyame announced his return at a ceremony held in his Zing country home last Saturday.
The State Chairman of the Party, Mr. Victor Bala, who nullified Nyame’s move, said he was not yet a member of the PDP.
Addressing some members of the party from Zing A (I) Ward from where the former governor hails at the Party Secretariat in Jalingo, yesterday, Bala observed that Nyame did not follow due process in re-entering the Party he left in 2011.
He described the occasion at which Nyame claimed to have returned to the fold of the Party on Saturday night as a Ramadan breaking of fast with his Muslim brothers and Sisters and not an avenue to return to the PDP.
“The former governor must therefore first embark on genuine and sincere reconciliation with those he has offended at both the local and state levels of the Party before commencing the process of seeking re-admittance,” Victor said.
He observed that the PDP ward Chairman, Malam Mijinyawa Ismaila and his Secretary Mr Alexander Thomas both denied registering the former Governor, saying they could not register a new entrant at his private residence instead of the party office.
“We wonder why the former governor prefers to smuggle himself into the party through the back door” Bala said.
Bala’s complaint against Nyame, Nigerian Pilot gathered, stemmed from the fact that early this year while still a member of the ACN, Nyame joined some aggrieved PDP members to file a petition at the party headquarters in Abuja, calling for the removal of Victor Bala as Chairman of the party in the State and other members of the party executive council.
Nyame, who was a two time governor of Taraba State and a founding member of PDP had earlier decamped to the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria, CAN, and contested for Senate in 2011 but lost to Sen. Aisha Alhassan (PDP Taraba North Senatorial District).
